Top 10 Most Popular Cartoon Character of All time:

We all love watching cartoons because of the characters which were there. They made us feel happy when we were sad, lifted us up when we were low and most importantly helped us to learn to become a good person.

In this article I will be writing about the top 10 cartoon characters of all time and I will try to include all those characters which we loved the most and which deserves a spot in this list.

So let's get started:

10. Spongebob Squarepants:

Spongebob Squarepants is the title character and protagonist of the American animated series Spongebob Squarepants. Spongebob is a good natured, naive and enthusiastic sea sponge. He resides in the undersea city of bikini bottom. He works as a fry cook at a local fast food restaurant, The Kursty Krab. Spongebob's hobbies includes fishing for jellyfish, practicing Karate with his friend Sandy Cheeks and blowing bubbles.

We often see Spongebob hanging around with his best friend, starfish Patrick Star. Spongebob lives in a submerged pineapple with his pet snail, Gary. His biggest dream in life is to get a driving license from Mrs. Puff Boating School.

9. Popeye:

Popeye is a fictional American cartoon character. In 1960, King Features Syndicate commissioned a new series of cartoons named Popeye the Sailor.  Popeye is a seaman who gets it strength from Spinach. Popeye vies constantly with Bluto, his bearded, hulking rival and he tries to save the love of his life Olive from Bluto.

Popeye has been converted into a lot of animated shows, movies and comics in the last 90 years of time. With a classy pipe in his mouth and his big eyes. He is one of the character which we will never forget.

8. Eric Cartman:

Eric Theodore Carmen is one of the main characters of the animated show South Park. Cartman is an elementary school student who lives with his mother in the fictional town of South Park, Colorado. Cartman has a psychopathic, sociopathic, manipulative and highly intelligent behaviour.


He is one of the most popular character of South Park the last 23 years. Many prominent publications and television channels have included Cartman on their list as one of the most iconic television and cartoon characters of all time.

7. Tom:

Thomas Cat aka Tom is a fictional character and one of the titular character of the Tom and Jerry series. He is grey and white in color.


His first appearance was in 1940's Puss gets the Boot. He has appeared in a number of movies and shows. He is one of the most popularly cartoon characters of all time.

6. Tweety:

Tweety is a Yellow canary who has appeared in many WB animated series like Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies. Tweety get its name from sweetie and the sounds birds make. Tweety appeared in nearly 46 animated shows which were made between 1942 and 1962.

Tweety is a male bird and in his early appearance he was very aggressive. Tweety's aggressive nature was toned down when Friz Freleng started directing the series.

5. Scooby:

Scooby also known as Scoobert Doobert Doo is one of the main characters and protagonist of animated television franchise of the name Scooby Dooby Doo. This show was created in 1969 by Hanna-Barbera.


The show focuses on five friends Shaggy, Velma, Dhapne, Fred and Scooby who all help each other in solving various mysteries. Scooby is also the lifelong companion of Shaggy. His catchphrase is "Scooby-Dobby-Doo!".

4. Homer Simpson:

Homer Jay Simpson is a fictional character and the protagonist of one of the most popular American animated sitcom The Simpsons. As patriarch of the eponymous family, Homer and his wife Marge have three children: Bart, Lisa and Maggie.


he often tries to be a good man and is staunchly protective of his family, especially when they need him the most. Despite the suburban blue-collar routine of his life, he has had a number of remarkable experiences.

3. Bugs Bunny:

Bugs Bunny is an animated cartoon character in the 1930s. Bugs is best known for his starring roles in the Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies series of animated short films produced by Warner Bros. 


Bugs is widely credited to have made his debut in director Tex Avery's oscar nominated film A Wild Hare(1940). He also has a Brooklyn accent and is grey and white in color.

2. Jerry:

Jerry is a fictional character and one of the titular protagonists of the popular animated series Tom and Jerry. Jerry is a Brown mute house mouse. He first appeared in a 1940s MGM animated short Puss Gets the Boot as a mouse named Jinx.


The name "Jerry" was choosen by MGM animator John Carr. The idea of cat and mouse duo was considered shopworn by the 1940s. Tom and Jerry cartoons were nominated 14 times for the Academy Award for Best Short Subject.

1. Mickey Mouse:

Mickey's first appearance was in the short film Plane crazy. He was also one of the first sound cartoons. He appeared in more than 130 films and ten of his short films were nominated for an oscar including one win for Lend a Pew in 1942. He was the first cartoon character to star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
